About Stacy
Writer, blogger, and former political aide, Stacy Parker Aab served for five years in the Clinton White House, first as a long-time intern in George Stephanopoulos’s office, and later as an assistant to Paul Begala. She traveled as a presidential advance person, preparing and staffing trips abroad for the president and Mrs. Clinton. She also served as a special assistant for Gov. David Paterson in New York.
Stacy blogs for The Huffington Post and continues to chronicle stories for The Katrina Experience: an Oral History Project. She assists with the completion of The Hurricane Katrina Deceased Victims List. She also served as primary contributor to McSweeney’s Voices from the Storm: The People of New Orleans on Hurricane Katrina and Its Aftermath. In addition to her own writing and oral history work, she has spent six years teaching creative writing to students K–12 in Detroit and Houston. Having lived in Detroit, Washington DC, Miami, Los Angeles, Oxford, Abuja, Houston, and New Orleans, Stacy is now happy to call New York City home.

About Government Girl
Government Girl is a window into the culture of the Clinton White House, witnessed through the eyes of an idealistic young female aide learning to negotiate the exhilarating and often perilous currents of power, love, and sex in Washington. Stacy Parker Aab’s intimate memoir tells of coming of age in the lion’s den, a personal story of complicated relationships in which she unmasks the protectors, the predators, the teachers, the lovers, the mentors. Her story provides a searing look at the dynamics between young, smart women, and the influential older men who often hold the keys to their dreams. Her experiences also shed light on the Lewinsky scandal—for Aab, too, was a young woman struggling to cope with male predatory behavior, while discovering that every action, regardless of intent, had consequences.

Stacy if there’s any way I can help out with your Katrina Experience feel free to contact me. My 2008 memoir, “Diary From the Dome, Reflections on Fear and Privilege During Katrina” is the first non-fiction book of what it was really like inside the Superdome. I was a tourist who was trapped there. Best of luck and skill in your work and thank you so much for not forgetting us.
