• Print Length: 249 pages
• Publisher: Crimson Romance (April 22, 2013)

WHAT IS YOUR POWER?

Grace Mackay thought she was normal, a little shy maybe, but no less normal than any other struggling young waitress.  But she did not know about the secretive Powers world.  She did not know she was the only key to the Powers’ survival.  And she certainly did not know her newest boyfriend, Gregory, was an Anti-Powers prince who intended to break her heart and her bones in no particular order.

But when she discovers that Ben, her best friend and unrequited former crush, is actually her secret Guardian with superhuman powers, Grace’s normal world turns upside down.  And when she learns that she has the Gift, the rare power to heal the injured and resurrect life with her touch, it is official – Grace is a weirdo even in the Powers world.  But what freaks Grace out more than all that is the fact she has feelings for Ben again – and he has feelings for her – which makes Grace’s new normal a lot more complicated.

Discovery is the first book in the Council of Powers trilogy and is available at all major eBook retailers.

Enter the Powers World and discover WHAT IS YOUR POWER?

Praise for Discovery

“I have been a Teen librarian for 40 years, and well acquainted with Y.A. literature. Teens like their novels to begin fast with interesting characters and unusual plot twists. DISCOVERY delivers!” – Pamela R. Neal, Teen Librarian, Bristol Virginia/Tennessee Public Library

“Ms. White’s world building is excellent, creating a page-turner about young adult superheroes and a beautiful teenage heroine named Grace, who straddles the supernatural world and the “real” world of ordinary humans.” – Deborah O’Neill Cordes, co-author of the Roman Time Travel series and the Italian Time travel series.

“With an interesting society that includes super-powered beings, and a hero who is handsome and devoted to his heroine, Discovery provides the expected fare for readers of paranormal romance, in a kinder, gentler framework than we normally see.” – Selena Laurence, author of Love, Lies, and British Spies

Happy Thursday! I’m here with one of my absolute favorites when it comes to historical fiction authors. What are your faves?⁣
.⁣
WHAT I LOVED/THOUGHT: ★★★★☆⁣
Since Williams’ last novel, The Wicked City, we see the smart-mouthed flapper, “Gin” Kelly. Overall I thought it was entertaining and I loved the fiery romance. I have always been fascinated by this era, and I love a saucy character surrounded in scandal! While it would help to read some of Beatriz Williams’ previous novels, The Wicked Redhead also stands alone.⁣
.⁣
ABOUT THE BOOK: (on sale now)⁣
Historical Fiction; The dazzling narrator of The Wicked City brings her mesmerizing voice and indomitable spirit to another Jazz Age tale of rumrunners, double crosses, and true love, spanning the Eastern seaboard from Florida to Long Island to Halifax, Nova Scotia.⁣
⁣
Two women, two generations, two urgent quests. But as Ginger and Ella track down their separate quarries with increasing desperation, the mysteries consuming them take on unsettling echoes of each other, and both women will require all their strength and ingenuity to outwit a conspiracy spanning decades.⁣
.⁣
→You can pickup a copy at the link below. Perfect for the historical fiction lovers!⁣

Are you a Jane Austen fan?⁣
.⁣
I absolutely love Jane Austen and have read nearly all of her books... more than once ☺ I was so excited to learn about this book, The Lost Books of Jane Austen by Janine Barchas. It is full of so much history about Jane’s books and has illustrations of their covers throughout the years since they were published. It is the perfect book for any Jane lover and a great conversation starter. It is available now and I will leave the description below! .⁣
Thank you so much to @jhupress and @tlcbooktours for gifting me with this free book!⁣
•⁣
•⁣
•⁣
In the nineteenth century, inexpensive editions of Jane Austen's novels targeted to Britain's working classes were sold at railway stations, traded for soap wrappers, and awarded as school prizes. At just pennies a copy, these reprints were some of the earliest mass-market paperbacks, with Austen's beloved stories squeezed into tight columns on thin, cheap paper. Few of these hard-lived bargain books survive, yet they made a substantial difference to Austen's early readership. These were the books bought and read by ordinary people.⁣
.⁣
Packed with nearly 100 full-color photographs of dazzling, sometimes gaudy, sometimes tasteless covers, The Lost Books of Jane Austen is a unique history of these rare and forgotten Austen volumes. Such shoddy editions, Janine Barchas argues, were instrumental in bringing Austen's work and reputation before the general public. Only by examining them can we grasp the chaotic range of Austen's popular reach among working-class readers.⁣
.⁣
Informed by the author's years of unconventional book hunting, The Lost Books of Jane Austen will surprise even the most ardent Janeite with glimpses of scruffy survivors that challenge the prevailing story of the author's steady and genteel rise. Thoroughly innovative and occasionally irreverent, this book will appeal in equal measure to book historians, Austen fans, and scholars of literary celebrity.
Instagram post 2198279055245408778_1187955687 For my Jane Austen friends! I think you'll like everything about this picture and caption. ⁣

Today I’m teaming up with @tlcbooktours, @williammorrowbooks, and @mollyjgreeley to feature #TheClergymansWife and if you can’t tell by this picture, I love P&P ... so anything in that world is always exciting to me, and this is no exception. I think this is an unusual and therefore interesting subject, since you don’t usually see stories about Charlotte and the eye roll inducing Mr Collins! But I’m excited to see where this goes.

Do you like to travel? Do you have any specific kind of travel destination or trip that’s on your bucket list or a favorite trip you’ve already taken? Today I’m on the @tlcbooktours for this hefty, beautiful book— @moonguides “Wanderlust”, kindly #gifted to me from the publisher for this tour. .
🗺
I have really enjoyed flipping through this book. (I’ll flip through some of it in my stories so you can get a look inside, too) There are 50 different lists under seven different headings (Wonders of Nature, City Trips, The World in Celebration, Experience, Adventure and Outdoors, Flavors of the World, and Culture) that can help you get inspired for your next trip. Mythic locations, epic trails, ancient cities, street food around the world… The book is also packed with illustrations and full-color photos and interesting overviews of each destination. .
🗺
My top favorite lists from the bunch were: Where to Stargaze, legendary hotels, where to ring in the new year, unique festivals, 12 extraordinary train trips, the most beautiful volcanoes, 10 food destinations, places of mystery and legend, the most beautiful markets, and holy cities. .
🗺
I have not done much world travel in my life, so I feel like a bit of a novice when it comes to how to plan a trip that encompasses all the types of experiences. It was fun to get different ideas for the future! .

Where do you review your books? Do you review books?
I have a review I’ll leave right here! Thank you @gallerybooks and @tlcbooktours for sending me a copy of Meet Me on Love Lane. (This does not affect my opinion of the book in any way).
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Meet Me on Love Lane is a romance book. You know I can’t resist a romance book. And this one was so cute, but also frustrating cause love triangle. The adorable town they live in is worth reading the book alone. It made me want to live there!
While Charolette’s indecisiveness drove me up the wall at times she was still a fun character though her grandma, Gigi, was by far my fave. Gigi is the type of grandma I aspire to be one day 😂 Meet Me on Love Lane is definitely worth a read if you enjoy romance.

Synopsis

Charlotte Bishop is out of options in New York City. Fired, broke, and blacklisted by her former boss, she’s forced to return to her hometown of Hope Lake, PA to lick her wounds. Although she’s expecting to find a miserable place with nothing to do, she is pleasantly surprised to discover it is bustling and thriving.

She’s only supposed to be in Hope Lake temporarily until she can earn enough money to move back to New York. She’s not supposed to reconnect with her childhood friends or her beloved grandmother. She’s not supposed to find her dream job running the local florist shop. And she’s definitely not supposed to fall for not one but two of Hope Lake’s golden boys: one the beloved high school English teacher, the other the charming town doctor.

With a heart torn between two men and two cities, what’s a girl to do?

QOTD: Do you have a type of setting that always makes you interested in a book?
~~~
For me, I always am interested in books set at college campuses or boarding schools. They are these little microcosm societies that are perfect for secrets, lies, and mysteries.
~~~
Today on my blog I have an excerpt from JT Ellison’s newest thriller, #GoodGirlsLie. This book publishes later this month and I definitely have my pre-order in! You can find the excerpt at the link in my bio!
~~~
ABOUT THE BOOK: Goode girls don’t lie…
~~~
Perched atop a hill in the tiny town of Marchburg, Virginia, The Goode School is a prestigious prep school known as a Silent Ivy. The boarding school of choice for daughters of the rich and influential, it accepts only the best and the brightest. Its elite status, long-held traditions and honor code are ideal for preparing exceptional young women for brilliant futures at Ivy League universities and beyond. But a stranger has come to Goode, and this ivy has turned poisonous.
~~~
In a world where appearances are everything, as long as students pretend to follow the rules, no one questions the cruelties of the secret societies or the dubious behavior of the privileged young women who expect to get away with murder. But when a popular student is found dead, the truth cannot be ignored. Rumors suggest she was struggling with a secret that drove her to suicide.
~~~
But look closely…because there are truths and there are lies, and then there is everything that really happened.
~~~
J.T. Ellison’s pulse-pounding new novel examines the tenuous bonds of friendship, the power of lies and the desperate lengths people will go to to protect their secrets.
~~~
Thank you @tlcbooktours for my chance to feature this excerpt!

💬 Tell me one person or animal who has made a difference in your life and why.⁣
⁣
Thank you #tlcbooktours and @lakeunionauthors @amazonpublishing for gifting me a copy Stay by Catherine Ryan Hyde!⁣
⁣
I loved every bit of this book. The main character, Lucas Painter, is wise beyond his years and has one of the kindest hearts.⁣
⁣
I had a deep appreciation for the way that Hyde wrote about Lucas’ relationship with Zoe’s dogs. The scenes where Lucas would run with the dogs was presented in such photographic detail that I felt like I was running along with them. Stay is a beautiful testament to friendship but it’s not only a testament to human friendship but, also, the friendship we experience with animals. ⁣
⁣
I was completely mesmerized by Hyde’s writing. She did an extraordinary job of tackling such heavy topics but, also, giving the reader hope. It was a wonderful read and will be difficult for me to forget. My full review is up on my blog (link in bio). ⁣
TW: War references, drug usage, suicidal thoughts/attempts.⁣

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!! There is nothing I like better than a good Christmas romance. I’m not going to lie. I enjoy reading them all year round but there is just something so pleasant about picking one of these up and sitting under the Christmas lights and falling into a love story. Today I’m partnering up with @tlcbooktours and @harlequinbooks to feature Cowboy Christmas Redemption by @maiseyyates. This book was my first Christmas read of the season and featured a good amount of angst, but it was well balanced with a Christmas tree farm and a winter love story. Cowboy Christmas Redemption really focuses on finding love again after loss, and being able to let go of the past and let that love grow. Definitely worth the read, so if you’re looking for a Christmas romance don’t be afraid to check this one out. My full review is up in the blog!!

{@williammarrowbooks @tlcbooktours #partner) Anyone noticing a pattern as of late (Hint: coffee, coffee, and more coffee)? ☕ I’m SO close to the finish line but it’s a mad dash from now until winter break. I’m at the point where I’m crossing dates off my calendar 🗓 and counting down the days! Final papers and exams have been keeping me occupied for the most part but I have managed to read a little here and there too!⁣
⁣
I love a good Pride and Prejudice retelling/continuation, especially around this time of year. I don’t know why but reading Austen in the winter months is so cozy. This book has it all - forbidden love, intrigue, and a bit of wit. This was such a lovely book to escape into.⁣

#partner | Filled with stunning images from the US National Parks, this book gave me some serious wanderlust. My daughter and I thumbed through the pages together and kept saying, “Oooh, I want to go there!” And then we’d turn the page and say, “No, there!”⁣
.⁣
So many times we dream of beaches far away for our next vacation, but I think we’re all guilty of realizing the beauty of our own backyards. This book makes me want to sell all my possessions, buy an RV, and travel across the United States to visit all these breathtaking places. From Denali National Park in Alaska to Everglades National Park in Florida, there’s endless terrain to explore…all right here, no passport necessary!⁣

I’m going to #Estonia for Christmas. Fingers crossed it will be cold and snowing. We are staying in an Airbnb flat in Tallinn's old town next to the magical #ChristmasMarket. Apparently #Tallinn is the most Googled Christmas destination in Europe lately. I hope it will be good. Everyone says the food is amazing in Estonia.

The book on my table is Wanderlust: A Traveler’s Guide to the Globe published by @moonguides. It’s the most amazing coffee table book for travellers. This stunning, hardcover book is packed with full-colour photos, charming illustrations and fascinating overviews of each destination, making it the perfect gift for dreamers and adventurers. Discover and uncover your next great adventure. Great Wall of China, Atlas Mountains, Patagonia, stunning national parks in Yellowstone in the US, Tongariro in New Zealand, the Gobi Desert or the Greek Islands.

The book is gifted by @moonguides and as always my opinions are entirely mine.

Synopsis: In spring 1889, Prudence and Geoffrey set sail from New York Harbor on a private yacht bound for Bradford Island, where her friend Eleanor Dickson is to be wed. The Sea Islands along the Georgia coast serve as a winter playground for the likes of the Carnegies, Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, and Dicksons. Despite her Yankee pedigree, Eleanor is marrying a Southern gentleman, Teddy Bennett, and Prudence is thrilled to be the maid of honor.
But days before the wedding, the bride is nowhere to be found. A frantic search of the island turns up her drowned corpse in an alligator-infested swamp. Prudence is devastated, but as they prepare the body for burial, she and Geoffrey discover evidence of bruising that indicates Eleanor was held under—most dishonorably murdered.
Determined to seek justice for her beloved friend, Prudence begins to investigate with Geoffrey's help and is quickly led into a morass of voodoo spells and dark deeds from the days of slavery. As Prudence and Geoffrey pursue a killer, they soon discover that Eleanor will not be the last to die on Bradford Island …

#ad | Besides reading, one of my main interests is traveling and learning about unique locations to add to my bucket list! @mooondguides recently came out with an epic new book that I think makes for a great holiday gift -- Wanderlust: A Traveler's Guide to the Globe. It has detailed information on everything from the best places to stargaze, reversing rivers, blooming deserts, fluorescent blue haze, and even the Aurora Boreales. Plus, the images and page designs are stunning (I'll do a little flip through on my stories)! I highly recommend checking this one out if you're an adventurous traveler and love cultural treasures.

Thank you again to @moonguides for the free copy of this beautiful book, and as always all opinions expressed in this post are entirely my own!

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you want to go?⁣

I love seeing new places so the list of destinations I want to explore is always growing. After reading this book from National Geographic I have now added a ton of national parks to that list! Thank you so much @tlcbooktours for sending me this gorgeous book. Whether you are consumed by wanderlust or you just love looking at beautiful photos and reading interesting facts about different parks than I highly suggest picking up this huge book. It would make such a great holiday gift! Swipe over to see some of the national parks I thought were 🙌🏻 Also I totally noticed after choosing a few of my favorites that I guess I am drawn to places that include water.
