In the midst of WWII, a young librarian forms a book club to keep her library from closing.

THE BLACKOUT BOOK CLUB

The Blackout Book Club by Amy Lynn Green

“The Blackout Book Club is a fabulous novel that will warm the hearts of readers everywhere. Amy Lynn Green gives us a poignant look at life on the home front during WWII and how comfort and camaraderie can be found in the shared love of books. This will be a wonderful book club read!”–MADELINE MARTIN, New York Times bestselling author of The Last Bookshop in London

In 1942, an impulsive promise to her brother before he goes off to the European front puts Avis Montgomery in the unlikely position of head librarian in small-town Maine. Though she has never been much of a reader, when wartime needs threaten to close the library, she invents a book club to keep its doors open. The women she convinces to attend the first meeting couldn’t be more different–a wealthy spinster determined to aid the war effort, an exhausted mother looking for a fresh start, and a determined young war worker. At first, the struggles of the home front are all the club members have in common, but over time, the books they choose become more than an escape from the hardships of life and the fear of the U-boat battles that rage just past their shores. As the women face personal challenges and band together in the face of danger, they find they have more in common than they think. But when their growing friendships are tested by secrets of the past and present, they must decide whether depending on each other is worth the cost.Includes a book club discussion guide and The Blackout Book Club book list!

“The Blackout Book Club is an ode to books and libraries, but it’s also an ode to human connection. Amy Lynn Green’s entire cast of characters comes vividly to life, each woman with a distinct voice that makes the reader feel as much like her friend as her fellow book club members are. I couldn’t put this book down!”–Addison Armstrong, author of The Light of Luna Park and The War Librarian

.“A salute to the power of books and of friendship!”–SARAH SUNDIN, bestselling and award-winning author of Until Leaves Fall in Paris

“The Blackout Book Club is an engaging story that illustrates the power of books to unite and encourage us in trying times. . . . A wonderful read.”–LYNN AUSTIN, author of Long Way Home

A life in pieces. A hundred-year-old journal. And a chance for love to be reborn.

LIKE THE WIND

Like the Wind by Robin Lee Hatcher

Olivia Ward arrived in Bethlehem Springs alone—with no job, no home, and no money—after her manipulative ex-husband used his power and wealth to destroy everything. Six years later, the peaceful life she rebuilt is once again turned upside down when she learns that her fifteen-year-old daughter, Emma, will be coming to live with her. The reunion should be a dream come true, but years of deception have driven a wedge between them. And Emma seems more interested in an old diary she discovered than reconciliation with her mother.

Tyler Murphy knows what it’s like to lose everything. Propelled by his history in the foster-care system, he’s determined to root out dishonesty and protect the most vulnerable through his work as an investigator. When he’s hired to investigate Olivia Ward, though, he finds himself longing to believe she’s exactly who she appears to be, and he soon realizes that his desire to learn more about her has nothing to do with his job. But how can he pursue a relationship that began with a lie?

In this latest novel from award-winning author Robin Lee Hatcher, an antique diary, a family-fueled investigation, and unexpected feelings collide to create a promise that’s worth fighting for.

“Seamlessly weaving past and present, Robin has written a touching, hopeful story that’s sure to tug on readers’ heartstrings.” —Kathleen Fuller, bestselling author

From three bestselling authors comes an interwoven tale about a trio of World War II nurses stationed in the South Pacific who wage their own battle for freedom and survival.

WHEN WE HAD WINGS

When We Had Wings by Ariel Lawhon, Kristina McMorris, and Susan Meissner

The Philippines, 1941. When U.S. Navy nurse Eleanor Lindstrom, U.S. Army nurse Penny Franklin, and Filipina nurse Lita Capel forge a friendship at the Army Navy Club in Manila, they believe they’re living a paradise assignment. All three are seeking a way to escape their pasts, but soon the beauty and promise of their surroundings give way to the heavy mantle of war.

Caught in the crosshairs of a fight between the U.S. military and the Imperial Japanese Army for control of the Philippine Islands, the nurses are forced to serve under combat conditions and, ultimately, endure captivity as the first female prisoners of the Second World War. As their resiliency is tested in the face of squalid living arrangements, food shortages, and the enemy’s blatant disregard for the articles of the Geneva Convention, the women strive to keep their hope— and their fellow inmates—alive, though not without great cost.

In this sweeping story based on the true experiences of nurses dubbed “the Angels of Bataan,” three women shift in and out of each other’s lives through the darkest days of the war, buoyed by their unwavering friendship and distant dreams of liberation.

“Three of the biggest powerhouses in historical fiction come together to pen this breathtaking story of three nurses serving in the Philippines during the Second World War.” —PAM JENOFF, New York Times bestselling author of The Woman with the Blue Star

  • World War II historical fiction
  • Stand-alone novel
  • Book length: approximately 128,000 words
  • Includes discussion questions for book clubs

THE CALL OF THE WRENS

The Call of the Wrens by Jenni L. Walsh

Another storm is on the horizon for the Reynolds women. And the only way out is to go through it.

And the month when fourteen-year-old Trinity went missing during a tropical storm. So Hope Reynolds isn’t surprised when it becomes the month she walks in on her boyfriend kissing another woman. Or when she receives a panicked call from her mother about a mistake that could cost the family their treasured beach house.

Meanwhile, Faith Reynolds-Phillips is facing her own financial struggles. She’s also looking down the barrel of divorce and raising a daughter who reminds her so much of her younger sister, Trinity, that sometimes it physically hurts. The last place Hope and Faith want to be is in Hallelujah, South Carolina, during hurricane season. Going home will force them to confront the secrets that have torn their family apart. They wondered if they would ever find their way back–back to the village, back to a life of meaning, back to each other.

WHERE THE WANDERING ENDS

Where the Wandering Ends by Yvette Manessis Corporon

Corfu 1946–In a poor Greek community, ten-year-old Marco is perhaps the poorest of them all. But it wasn’t always that way. His grandmother once worked for the royal family where Marco’s mother played alongside young Prince Phillip himself. Now Greece is on the brink of civil war, and Marco’s mother still clings to the desperate hope that somehow the royal family will save her own.

As the war turns deadlier, Greece’s Queen Frederica takes a defiant stand against the communists, announcing that she will save the children of Greece by opening children’s villages. When the communist partisans erect camps of their own, children are ripped from their mothers’ arms, entire villages are emptied.

Young Katerina has been best friends with Marco for as long as she can remember, cementing their bond as Katerina steals scraps from her family’s table to sneak to him.  But when communists reach their village, loyalties are tested as devastating secrets threaten to emerge. Katerina and Marco are separated just before her family flees on foot. At their final goodbye, Katerina and Marco promise to find their way back to the village, and to one another. That haunting childhood vow setting into motion events that will take decades to unravel.

Set among Corfu’s picturesque lanes, hamlets and villas, where kings, villagers and saints all walk the same cobblestone paths, Where the Wandering Ends reminds us of the tenacity of those who have lost everything and the enduring power of home.

If you’ve been around you’ve heard me talk nonstop about Yellow Wife!!! I'm just happy to have a new SJ book to rave about!

👉🏽 REVIEW👈🏽

This one is completely different from Yellow Wife and just as compelling.
Told through dual stories of two young black girls in the 1940’s that are living in two different worlds but both experiencing how their lives are restricted by being women, Black and not wealthy.

Ruby’s story takes place in Philadelphia. She has the brains and the ambition to blaze the trail as the 1st in her family to go to college. Her first love is a forbidden love that can potentially derail her dreams.

Eleanor’s story takes place in D.C. She has the family support that Ruby lacks and is following her dreams by attending Howard University. She did not count on the racism and classism that she is faced with. She falls in love with William and although he is Black, he is from the wealthy Black elite. Love may not be enough for their relationship to survive.

There is lot of history in this book. Also tough topics such as teenage pregnancy, infertility, racism, and classism. Add this one to your #readblackstack

The Sorcerer of Pyongyang follows the journey of Cho Jun-su, a ten-year old boy growing up in 1990's North Korea, whose life is changed when he comes across a handbook to Dungeons & Dragons. This book is both wildly inventive and imaginative yet grounded in meticulous research -though that may seem to be at odds, it works!

Thank you @atriabooks @tlcbooktours @tlcdiversity @marceltheroux
PUB DATE: 11.29.22 - swipe for the full synopsis!

I must admit, I was skeptical of reading about North Korean characters and North Korean life as written by a white, British American journalist, but Theroux did a fine job. Written in a journalistic style, Cho Jun-Su's story comes alive. It reads like a long feature in a magazine such as The Atlantic. IMHO, Theroux was purposeful in affecting a plain, objective reporter-ish tone to let Cho Jun-Su’s experiences shine through.

While Cho Jun-su is a fictional character -his story is inspired by the author's research of North Korean refugees, and his book offers a glimpse into North Korean society - from prison camps, schooling, experiences of elites, and the hope of love and normalcy.

The Dungeons & Dragons handbook, as translated by his teacher as the House of Possibilities, gave Jun-Su inspiration as he navigates his own life choices.

I love how the story truly comes full circle. It was clever and unexpected. I also really like how at the end, the author reverts to the first-person to incorporate the "journalist" who has been telling us Cho Jun-Su's story. I read a different book right after this one, If An Egyptian Cannot Speak English, with a similar end scene. The change in narrative really intrigues me as a literary device. Interesting how I read these books back-to-back as they have a lot of similarities.

I recommend this thought-provoking read. But be sure to also read about true, lived experiences/works by North Koreans.

I have read a handful of other books by Christi. They have all been contemporary romances. So, this paranormal romance book is a nice switch up. The quirky humor was what I loved the most about this book. Maisy and Rhys shared some witty banter. Rhys definitely had his hands full with Maisy. BOOK REVIEW

Thank you @harpermusebooks @jennilwalsh @tlcbooktours for sending this fabulous historical fiction novel my way!! ❤️

I declare that The Call of The Wrens by Jenni L. Walsh is a must read for all my historical fiction loving friends! You know this genre has my whole heart but I also know some readers get burnout with it. I’m here to tell you to give this book a read! The Call of the Wrens is a fresh new story that was inspiring, unique, and hopeful.

“What necessity is there to dwell on the past when the present is so much surer, the future so much brighter”

I believe these stories remind us that women are strong and capable. That we have a place in history. And that we are still capable of remaking our futures.

This is a dual narrative book that centers around the brave women serving in the Royal Naval Service during WWI and WWII. Specifically “the Wrens” who served as dispatch riders, brave women riding motorcycles into danger to deliver messages and carrier pigeons to the front lines. These women were such bad asses and their story deserves to be told, honored and remembered.

The book follows two women in two timelines that I loved equally, which is rare. Marion, an orphan, as she finds purpose in her work. I loved that she was so bookish! And Evelyn, who has a disability but wants to live a life of purpose and strength. The book features strong women, deep friendships, and unique adventures. An emotional read that historical fans will adore!

I will be hosting an IG Live with Jenni soon so stay tuned! The book releases Nov 15.

QOTD: Do you ride a motorcycle?
AOTD: I actually had a motorcycle license before a drivers license!

📖 BOOK REVIEW 📖

"Jasmine Zumideh Needs a Win" by Susan Azim Boyer
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐⭐

❓QOTD: If you were to revisit your high school days, what one thing would you change❓

📚 In this YA debut novel, Jasmine is a senior in high school in a suburban California of 1979. She is an aspiring journalist eager to get into NYU. To meet her early college application deadline, Jasmine states on her application that she is a Senior Class President-Elect. There is a small problem, Jasmine hasn't won the election yet.

💭 This book is so witty and funny, it made me laugh outloud all the way through. Those who grew up in the family with immigrant parents or themselves made this country their home will have a whole new level of appreciation for this book. Jasmine's dad is from Iran and her mother is Irish American, and just as Jasmine is trying her best to run an all-American high school election campaign, an incident between Iran and US makes it impossible for her to keep her ethnic identity out of her campaign. A small lie snowballs into a huge avalanche threatening Jasmine's win.

This is such a great book with the moral that the ends don't always justify the means. There are so many things that would help Jasmine win, but how much would she lose in the process? The characters are so well-written! Jasmine is hilarious, her auntie is so sweet and caring, her brother is a typical obnoxious younger sibling. This novel is so lighthearted and carries a great message. It talks about self-acceptance, xenophobia, and staying true to yourself.

⚖️ If you're looking for a YA book with a great insight and fierce humour, this is a great one. 5/5 ⭐ from me.

This book is out November 1, 2022. Thank you, @tlcbooktours for having me on this tour.

ՏƳƝƠƤՏӀՏ:
“That’s not my sister.” Overwhelmed by shock and relief, those are the only words Deven can muster when she is called to identify the body of a suicide victim. A body she was informed was her sister, Kennedy. But as she stares at the lifeless stranger, she’s filled with questions: Who is this woman? Why was Deven listed as family? And most important, where is Kennedy? Her intuition tells her just one thing: this can’t be a total coincidence.

Desperate to put the pieces together, Deven launches her own investigation. Soon, she finds herself tangled in a web of secrets and lies so twisted that it blurs the lines between fact and fiction.  And between the sister she thought she knew and the one who seems to have many hidden, dangerous lives. But only Kennedy would have the answers to increasingly urgent questions. Just one possibility is clear: Kennedy isn’t missing. Maybe she just doesn’t want to be found. And maybe you can never truly know another person. Even your own sister.

What an absolute page turner! I found that every chapter had such a great twist and I just devoured this book. The plot twist, stunner of an ending will leave your mind blown for days. Overall, a well-written story that will make your jaw drop with every twist + turn. I recommend this to all of my thriller lovers out there. 𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗨𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗦 because it takes place in New Jersey and your girl here is from northern New Jersey! 😋

✨𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥✨

When famed chef Augustus Beauvais dies, he leaves behind a celebrated reputation―and four women grappling with loss, anger, pain, and the question of how the world will turn without him…

Meadow, the ex-wife with whom Augustus built an empire―and a family―still holds a place for him in her heart, even as she continues to struggle with his infidelities, which ended their twenty-year marriage. More unforgiving is Maya, his estranged daughter, who’s recently out of rehab but finally ready to reclaim her life. Norah, his latest girlfriend, sidelined her own career for unexpected love and a life of luxury, both of which are now gone with Augustus. And then there’s Rory, Meadow’s daughter, the voice of calm and reason in a chorus of discontent.

As Meadow, Maya, Norah, and Rory are flung together by tragedy, grief, and secrets yet to be revealed, they must accept―or turn away from―the legacy of great intentions and bad decisions Augustus left them. And when the circumstances around his death are called into question, their conflicted feelings become even more complicated. But moving forward is the only choice they have, and to do so, they’ll need to rely on family, friendship, and inner strength.

𝘊𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨!
Have I told you I love Barbara O’Neal? I read my first book from her recently and I simply fell in love with her writting style, this story captured since page one and didn’t let go. Beautiful descriptions, strong female characters, family secrets and lots of mouthwatering recipes. I loved all of it.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Highland Justice by @heatherdmccollum ~ Review
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Holy. Smokes. 🔥 As soon as I finished this one, I downloaded the preceding two books in the Sons of Sinclair series. That’s how much I didn’t want to leave the world @heatherdmccollum built!
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The Sons of Sinclair were raised to be the four horsemen of the apocalypse, with Gideon as the Horseman of Justice.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Naturally, our heroine is a thief. Cait runs a home for orphans, and she would do anything to keep them safe and fed…including steal from Gideon.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I couldn’t put this book down, especially from seeing their relationship develop- Gideon shows Cait that she isn’t too cold for love, and Cait teaches Gideon how to relate to his people, and more importantly, that final judgement may be too much for just one man.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This book has it all: spicy scenes so hot that beds are broken 🥵, treason against the crown, an epic love story, and scenes that brought me to tears.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. This is the third in the Sons of Sinclair series, but you don’t have to read in order to easily follow along.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I am waiting with bated breath for Bas’s story, the Horseman of Death! 💀 Seriously, it’s going to be incredible.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The greatest of thanks to @entangled_publishing and @tlcbooktours for bringing this series into my life ♥️
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 QOTD: What’s the last book you read that you liked so much you picked up everything else in the series? (My tbr is crying right now 😂 BUT SO WORTH IT)
California is home to all kinds of people and ever California is home to all kinds of people and every kind of story. I didn’t grow up here, but I’ve lived here my entire adult life, and have started collecting books with California settings. This short story collection fits right in. It’s out now - I hope you’ll check it out ☀️
Here’s the synopsis:
In present-day Southern California, a diverse group of characters seeks the fulfillment and connection this sunny state has always promised. They come with hopes for a better lifestyle, for a change of perspective, or for the dry, mild West Coast weather. A couple moves to Palm Desert from New York for the arid, warm climate a doctor prescribes and they manage both illness and homesickness. The woman makes an unlikely friend in a young albino boy who teaches her a harsh lesson about the margin for cruelty that resides in us all. A young Mexican woman migrates to California and marries an American man—only to be deserted. A young man is disqualified from the Naval Aeronautical program and returns to his sister’s home, where he struggles with his identity and sexuality. After years of estrangement, a teenage girl travels to California from New York to spend the summer with her father. Between each of the thirteen stories in this collection are interspersed several “snapshot” stories—poetic pauses—that blend a set of images into an artistic visual unit, much like a brief cinematic experience. Every character in this collection is distinct from the next, but all of their stories unfold under the glare of the same Southern California sun—a western desert light so clear and unfiltered that it reveals everything. #allsfairandothercaliforniastories #californiabooks #lindafeyder #storycollection

Thank You, Mama is a fun new children’s book that I guarantee will make you and your child hungry! I am so excited to add this new book to our shelves. My almost 3 year old is a very picky eater (and her “safe” foods are also limited due to food allergies) so it is hard to get her to try new foods and expand her palate. I’m hoping this book will help! I also love that the book focuses on gratitude, Vietnamese cuisine, and that mealtime is a special time to be together as a family!
⠀
Synopsis:
“TikTok and viral video star Grey (@greyandmama, 6M followers) says “Thank you, Mama!” to healthy foods in this picture book that teaches gratitude, manners, and the joy of sharing meals with those we love.
⠀
We all want to raise happy eaters who enjoy eating new foods, mealtimes with family, and being thankful. That’s why so many parents love Linda Meeker’s charming videos of her son Grey saying “Thank you, Mama!” With colorful illustrations that capture a child’s daily snacks and mealtimes, Thank You, Mama will delight parents and kids alike.
This playful picture book for 3 to 7-year-olds
* follows a little boy as he explores different foods–from vegetables to sushi–and tries to pick his favorite
* encourages children to try new foods and become happy, healthy eaters
* honors the bond between parent and child
* models respect, manners, and thankfulness
* builds vocabulary and prereading skills with colorful food illustrations paired with words for each item”
⠀
Thank you so much @tlcbooktours, @tlcdiversity, @tommynelsonbooks, and @greyandmama for our gifted copy! We also appreciate the extra gifted copy to share in a local LFL!

Happy Wednesday said no one in the history of adulting; prove me wrong I dare you… but since we are here, let’s share a mini review with no spoilers below ↴

𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙱𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝙺𝚎𝚙𝚝 𝚂𝚎𝚌𝚛𝚎𝚝 ➟ ᴍʏ ʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ: ★ ★ ★ ★

What’s this? Me reading a best friends to lovers trope… no… but yes, yes I did. I devoured the 𝚆𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚃𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎’𝚜 𝚂𝚖𝚘𝚔𝚎 series & I thoroughly enjoyed it all; 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙱𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝙺𝚎𝚙𝚝 𝚂𝚎𝚌𝚛𝚎𝚝 was entertaining, charming, witty and gritty all at the same time. I laughed, cringed and swooned.

The characters were absolutely likable and though not my favorite type of trope it definitely had an easy flow and evolution that felt natural when the romance grew. And the drama, it was a train wreck that I could not look away from, and there was a ton of drama that added to plot.

This was definitely enjoyable; if you are looking for a standalone series that is cute and fun, easy to connect and laugh, this is right up your alley!

Full review posted on blog, link in bio! & thank you to @tlcbooktours for providing a copy for a review!

♥ Stay safe, stay fresh my comrades!

#superthankful🙏🏻 for @tlcbooktours and @tlcdiversity for selecting me as a #booktourhost for #amillionquietrevolutions by @rockin_robin_1
This is a bright stunning debut for readers like me who loved The Poet X, #felixeverafter and #aristotleanddantediscoverthesecretsoftheuniverse. Plus@orangeskyaudio
produced the audiobook and the narration was excellent.

Robin Gow’s A Million Quiet Revolutions is a modern love story, told in verse, about two teenaged trans boys who name themselves after two Revolutionary War soldiers.
For as long as they can remember, Aaron and Oliver have only ever had each other. In a small town with few queer teenagers, let alone young trans men, they’ve shared milestones like coming out as trans, buying the right binders – and falling for each other.
But just as their relationship has started to blossom, Aaron moves away. Feeling adrift, separated from the one person who understands them, they seek solace in digging deep into the annals of America’s past. When they discover the story of two Revolutionary War soldiers who they believe to have been trans man in love, they’re inspired to pay tribute to these soldiers by adopting their names – Aaron and Oliver. As they learn, they delve further into unwritten queer stories, and they discover the transformative power of reclaiming one’s place in history.

Robin Gow is a trans and queer poet, editor, and educator from rural Pennsylvania. They are the director and founder of Transcendent Connections, an organization that provides trans education resources to support trans youth. Gow also founded the New York City trans and queer reading series Gender Reveal Party. They live in Pennsylvania with their pugs, Gertrude and Eddie.

🇮🇸 BOOK TOUR 🇮🇸⁣

𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗱⁣
By Kristín Marja Baldursdóttir⁣
Translated by: Philip Roughton⁣
Publisher: Amazon Crossing⁣

Have you ever read a book where the prose is so beautifully descriptive and atmospheric that you feel you could walk right into the book? That’s how I felt about this lovely one.⁣
⁣
The plot's pace is measured, as life in Iceland in the early 1900s was about hard, physical work and family. This story combines a young woman breaking stereotypical roles with Icelandic folklore, customs, and the beauty of a rugged country. 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶.⁣
⁣
⁣
📖 Growing up on a farm in early twentieth-century rural Iceland, Karitas Ólafsdóttir, one of six siblings, yearns for a new life. An artist, Karitas has a powerful calling and is determined to never let go of her true being, one unsuited for the conventional. But she is powerless against the fateful turns of real life and all its expectations of women. Pulled back time and again by design and by chance to the Icelandic countryside–as dutiful daughter, loving mother, and fisherman’s wife–she struggles to thrive, to be what she was meant to be.⁣
Spanning decades and set against a breathtaking historical canvas, Karitas Untitled, an award-winning classic of Icelandic literature, is a complex and immersive portrait of an artist’s conflict with love, family, nature, and a country unaccustomed to an untraditional woman–but most of all, with herself and the creative instincts she has no choice but to follow.⁣

Do you believe that something good can come out of tragedy? Are you a glass half full or a glass half empty person? Miller’s book sounds like an uplifting read that so many people could use right now! Looking forward to this one.
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸:

Alexis Marshall never meant to cause the accident that left Jon-Jon Robinson paralyzed—but though guilt plagues her, her husband hopes to put the past behind them. After all, he’s in the middle of selling a tech business—and if Alexis admits to texting while driving, the deal could collapse and cost them millions. Meanwhile, Alexis’s life is not as shiny and perfect as it may seem from the outside. She has secrets of her own. As she becomes consumed with thoughts of the young man she hit, can she reconcile her mistake with her husband’s expectations?

Trish Robinson is just trying to hold it together after the accident that left Jon-Jon dependent and depressed. As the bills pile up, Trish and her husband, Dwayne, find themselves at odds. Trish wants to forgive and move on, but Dwayne is filled with rage toward the entitled woman who altered their lives forever. Trish can’t see how anything good can come from so much hate and strife, so she determines to pray until God intervenes. Then one afternoon Marquita Lewis rings their doorbell with a baby in her arms and changes everything.

Vanessa Miller’s latest inspirational novel reminds readers that differences may separate us, but if we cling to each other, God can bring something good out of our very worst moments.
