A woman’s seemingly perfect second marriage is rocked by a discovery about the death of her first husband in this twisty psychological thriller from Kate White, the New York Times bestselling author whom Entertainment Weekly called “impossible to outwit.”

THE SECOND HUSBAND

The Second Husband by Kate White

After losing her husband, Derrick, in what appears to have been a random street crime, thirtysomething Emma has built a new life with widower Tom, who is kind, handsome, driven, and successful. Emma is finally able to feel safe again, both in her relationship with Tom and in the home they’ve made together on the Connecticut shore.

Then one day a homicide detective shows up at Emma and Tom’s door asking questions. Though Emma had been cleared of her husband’s murder, it appears that law enforcement is taking another look at her and the case.

What do they know? Are they on the right track this time? And most importantly, will the renewed investigation ruin Emma’s chances of a happy life?

With twists and turns all the way to the last page, this fast-paced, expertly plotted novel will have you asking that age-old question: how well do you really know the ones you love?

THE HEART OF SUMMER

The Heart of Summer by Felicity Hayes-McCoy

Summer has finally arrived on Ireland’s west coast. With a painful divorce behind her and family drama finally settled, Hanna begins to plan a romantic holiday getaway for the two of them.

But life takes a turn when Brian’s adult son suddenly moves in and Hanna unexpectedly runs into Amy, a former flatmate from Hanna’s twenties in London. Reminded of her youth—and all the dreams and hopes she once had—Hanna begins to wonder if everything she now has is enough. When Amy suggests a reunion in London with old friends, Hanna accepts.

While it’s only short hop to England, Hanna feels like she’s leaving Brian far behind. And when she’s offered a new opportunity—the chance to be more than a local librarian in the little rural community where she grew up—Hanna is faced with a difficult choice: to decide what her heart truly wants.

In a span of a few magical days, what began as a spark ignites into an electric affair that compels Liam to let someone into his silent world while Kate confronts her heartbreaking sorrows. But falling for each other means opening old wounds and revealing their most intimate yearnings.

Martha Hale is an affable wife and mother who lives in an affluent neighborhood of well-tended lawns and high expectations. If only her clumsiness at penetrating the social circles of her neighbors weren’t making Martha so lonely.

That’s why she’s thrilled when the glamorous Minnie Foster, a former high school classmate, moves in next door. Despite Martha’s determination, picking up where they left off is trickier than anticipated?especially when their memories of the past don’t always align. But Martha is undeterred. In fact, her preoccupation with Minnie’s life, her success, and her marriage is becoming an obsession. When she sees a darkness and shame hiding inside Minnie’s perfectly deceptive home, Martha realizes that not even Minnie’s secrets are what they seem.

Eva Cardon has never taken the easy path through life, but she’s never faced a challenge like this.

THE LIGHT ALWAYS BREAKS

The Light Always Breaks by Angela Jackson-Brown

In 1947, few women own upscale restaurants in Washington, DC. Fewer still are twenty-four, Black, and wildly successful. But Eva Cardon is unwilling to serve only the wealthiest movers and shakers, and she plans to open a diner that serves Southern comfort to the working class.

A war hero and one of Georgia’s native sons, Courtland Hardiman Kingsley IV is a junior senator with great ambitions for his time in DC. But while his father is determined to see Courtland on a path to the White House, the young senator wants to use his office to make a difference in people’s lives, regardless of political consequences.

When equal-rights activism throws Eva and Courtland into each other’s paths, they can’t fight the attraction they feel, no matter how much it complicates their dreams. For Eva, falling in love with a white Southerner is all but unforgivable—and undesirable. Her mother and grandmother fell in love with white men, and their families paid the price. Courtland is already under pressure for his liberal ideals, and his family has a line of smiling debutantes waiting for him on every visit. If his father found out about Eva, he’s not sure he’d be welcome home again.

Surrounded by the disapproval of their families and the scorn of the public, Eva and Courtland must decide if the values they hold most dear—including love—are worth the loss of their dreams . . . and everything else.

The author of When Stars Rain Down returns with a historical romance about all that has—and has not—changed in these United States.

Follow Murphy Shepherd through the entire three-part series, with The Record Keeper closing out this thrilling adventure.

The Murphy Shepherd Trilogy by Charles Martin

THE WATER KEEPER, THE LETTER KEEPER, THE RECORD KEEPER

About THE WATER KEEPER:

A riveting story of heroism, heartache, and the power of love to heal all wounds by bestselling author Charles Martin.

Murphy Shepherd is a man with many secrets. He lives alone on an island, tending the grounds of a church with no parishioners, and he’s dedicated his life to rescuing those in peril. But as he mourns the loss of his mentor and friend, Murph himself may be more lost than he realizes.

When he pulls a beautiful woman named Summer out of Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway, Murph’s mission to lay his mentor to rest at the end of the world takes a dangerous turn. Drawn to Summer, and desperate to find her missing daughter, Murph is pulled deeper and deeper into the dark and dangerous world of modern-day slavery.

With help from some unexpected new friends, including a faithful Labrador he plucks from the ocean and an ex-convict named Clay, Murph must race against the clock to locate the girl before he is consumed by the secrets of his past—and the ghosts who tried to bury them.

With Charles Martin’s trademark lyricism and poignant prose, The Water Keeper is at once a tender love story and a heartrending search for freedom.

Praise for The Water Keeper:

“I’m telling you, it’s an action-packed, classic Charles Martin romance novel unlike anything I’ve ever read. And remember . . . the day you pick up this book is the day you become temporarily unavailable to the world.” —Charlie Martin, son of Charles Martin

Murphy Shepherd has made a career of finding those no one else could—survivors of human trafficking. His life’s mission is helping others find freedom . . . but then the nightmare strikes too close to home.

When his new wife, her daughter, and two other teenage girls are stolen, Murphy is left questioning all he has thought to be true. With more dead ends than leads, he has no idea how to find his loved ones. After everything is stripped away, love is what remains.

Hope feels lost, but Murphy is willing to expend his last breath trying to bring them home.

Praise for The Letter Keeper:

“A man broken by events beyond his control accepts the challenge to walk dark ways in order to bring the lost and helpless home, but he comes close to losing himself in the process. ✨𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥✨

When famed chef Augustus Beauvais dies, he leaves behind a celebrated reputation―and four women grappling with loss, anger, pain, and the question of how the world will turn without him…

Meadow, the ex-wife with whom Augustus built an empire―and a family―still holds a place for him in her heart, even as she continues to struggle with his infidelities, which ended their twenty-year marriage. More unforgiving is Maya, his estranged daughter, who’s recently out of rehab but finally ready to reclaim her life. Norah, his latest girlfriend, sidelined her own career for unexpected love and a life of luxury, both of which are now gone with Augustus. And then there’s Rory, Meadow’s daughter, the voice of calm and reason in a chorus of discontent.

As Meadow, Maya, Norah, and Rory are flung together by tragedy, grief, and secrets yet to be revealed, they must accept―or turn away from―the legacy of great intentions and bad decisions Augustus left them. And when the circumstances around his death are called into question, their conflicted feelings become even more complicated. But moving forward is the only choice they have, and to do so, they’ll need to rely on family, friendship, and inner strength.

Have I told you I love Barbara O’Neal? I read my first book from her recently and I simply fell in love with her writting style, this story captured since page one and didn’t let go. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Highland Justice by @heatherdmccollum ~ Review
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Holy. Smokes. 🔥 As soon as I finished this one, I downloaded the preceding two books in the Sons of Sinclair series. That’s how much I didn’t want to leave the world @heatherdmccollum built!
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The Sons of Sinclair were raised to be the four horsemen of the apocalypse, with Gideon as the Horseman of Justice.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Naturally, our heroine is a thief. Cait runs a home for orphans, and she would do anything to keep them safe and fed…including steal from Gideon.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I couldn’t put this book down, especially from seeing their relationship develop- Gideon shows Cait that she isn’t too cold for love, and Cait teaches Gideon how to relate to his people, and more importantly, that final judgement may be too much for just one man.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 This book has it all: spicy scenes so hot that beds are broken 🥵, treason against the crown, an epic love story, and scenes that brought me to tears.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. This is the third in the Sons of Sinclair series, but you don’t have to read in order to easily follow along.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I am waiting with bated breath for Bas’s story, the Horseman of Death! 💀 Seriously, it’s going to be incredible.
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The greatest of thanks to @entangled_publishing and @tlcbooktours for bringing this series into my life ♥️
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 QOTD: What’s the last book you read that you liked so much you picked up everything else in the series? (My tbr is crying right now 😂 BUT SO WORTH IT)
California is home to all kinds of people and ever California is home to all kinds of people and every kind of story. I didn’t grow up here, but I’ve lived here my entire adult life, and have started collecting books with California settings. This short story collection fits right in. It’s out now - I hope you’ll check it out ☀️
Here’s the synopsis:
In present-day Southern California, a diverse group of characters seeks the fulfillment and connection this sunny state has always promised. They come with hopes for a better lifestyle, for a change of perspective, or for the dry, mild West Coast weather. A couple moves to Palm Desert from New York for the arid, warm climate a doctor prescribes and they manage both illness and homesickness. The woman makes an unlikely friend in a young albino boy who teaches her a harsh lesson about the margin for cruelty that resides in us all. A young Mexican woman migrates to California and marries an American man—only to be deserted. A young man is disqualified from the Naval Aeronautical program and returns to his sister’s home, where he struggles with his identity and sexuality. After years of estrangement, a teenage girl travels to California from New York to spend the summer with her father. Between each of the thirteen stories in this collection are interspersed several “snapshot” stories—poetic pauses—that blend a set of images into an artistic visual unit, much like a brief cinematic experience. Every character in this collection is distinct from the next, but all of their stories unfold under the glare of the same Southern California sun—a western desert light so clear and unfiltered that it reveals everything. #allsfairandothercaliforniastories #californiabooks #lindafeyder #storycollection

Thank You, Mama is a fun new children’s book that I guarantee will make you and your child hungry! I am so excited to add this new book to our shelves. My almost 3 year old is a very picky eater (and her “safe” foods are also limited due to food allergies) so it is hard to get her to try new foods and expand her palate. I’m hoping this book will help! I also love that the book focuses on gratitude, Vietnamese cuisine, and that mealtime is a special time to be together as a family!
⠀
Synopsis:
“TikTok and viral video star Grey (@greyandmama, 6M followers) says “Thank you, Mama!” to healthy foods in this picture book that teaches gratitude, manners, and the joy of sharing meals with those we love.
⠀
We all want to raise happy eaters who enjoy eating new foods, mealtimes with family, and being thankful. That’s why so many parents love Linda Meeker’s charming videos of her son Grey saying “Thank you, Mama!” With colorful illustrations that capture a child’s daily snacks and mealtimes, Thank You, Mama will delight parents and kids alike.
This playful picture book for 3 to 7-year-olds
* follows a little boy as he explores different foods–from vegetables to sushi–and tries to pick his favorite
* encourages children to try new foods and become happy, healthy eaters
* honors the bond between parent and child
* models respect, manners, and thankfulness
* builds vocabulary and prereading skills with colorful food illustrations paired with words for each item”

Happy Wednesday said no one in the history of adulting; prove me wrong I dare you… but since we are here, let’s share a mini review with no spoilers below ↴

𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙱𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝙺𝚎𝚙𝚝 𝚂𝚎𝚌𝚛𝚎𝚝 ➟ ᴍʏ ʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ: ★ ★ ★ ★

What’s this? Me reading a best friends to lovers trope… no… but yes, yes I did. I devoured the 𝚆𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚃𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎’𝚜 𝚂𝚖𝚘𝚔𝚎 series & I thoroughly enjoyed it all; 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙱𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝙺𝚎𝚙𝚝 𝚂𝚎𝚌𝚛𝚎𝚝 was entertaining, charming, witty and gritty all at the same time. I laughed, cringed and swooned.

The characters were absolutely likable and though not my favorite type of trope it definitely had an easy flow and evolution that felt natural when the romance grew. And the drama, it was a train wreck that I could not look away from, and there was a ton of drama that added to plot.

This was definitely enjoyable; if you are looking for a standalone series that is cute and fun, easy to connect and laugh, this is right up your alley!

Full review posted on blog, link in bio! & thank you to @tlcbooktours for providing a copy for a review!

#superthankful🙏🏻 for @tlcbooktours and @tlcdiversity for selecting me as a #booktourhost for #amillionquietrevolutions by @rockin_robin_1
This is a bright stunning debut for readers like me who loved The Poet X, #felixeverafter and #aristotleanddantediscoverthesecretsoftheuniverse. Plus@orangeskyaudio
produced the audiobook and the narration was excellent.

Robin Gow’s A Million Quiet Revolutions is a modern love story, told in verse, about two teenaged trans boys who name themselves after two Revolutionary War soldiers.
For as long as they can remember, Aaron and Oliver have only ever had each other. In a small town with few queer teenagers, let alone young trans men, they’ve shared milestones like coming out as trans, buying the right binders – and falling for each other.
But just as their relationship has started to blossom, Aaron moves away. Feeling adrift, separated from the one person who understands them, they seek solace in digging deep into the annals of America’s past. When they discover the story of two Revolutionary War soldiers who they believe to have been trans man in love, they’re inspired to pay tribute to these soldiers by adopting their names – Aaron and Oliver. As they learn, they delve further into unwritten queer stories, and they discover the transformative power of reclaiming one’s place in history.

Robin Gow is a trans and queer poet, editor, and educator from rural Pennsylvania. They are the director and founder of Transcendent Connections, an organization that provides trans education resources to support trans youth. Gow also founded the New York City trans and queer reading series Gender Reveal Party. They live in Pennsylvania with their pugs, Gertrude and Eddie.

Have you ever read a book where the prose is so beautifully descriptive and atmospheric that you feel you could walk right into the book? That’s how I felt about this lovely one.⁣

The plot's pace is measured, as life in Iceland in the early 1900s was about hard, physical work and family. This story combines a young woman breaking stereotypical roles with Icelandic folklore, customs, and the beauty of a rugged country. 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶.⁣

An artist, Karitas has a powerful calling and is determined to never let go of her true being, one unsuited for the conventional. But she is powerless against the fateful turns of real life and all its expectations of women. Pulled back time and again by design and by chance to the Icelandic countryside–as dutiful daughter, loving mother, and fisherman’s wife–she struggles to thrive, to be what she was meant to be.⁣
Spanning decades and set against a breathtaking historical canvas, Karitas Untitled, an award-winning classic of Icelandic literature, is a complex and immersive portrait of an artist’s conflict with love, family, nature, and a country unaccustomed to an untraditional woman–but most of all, with herself and the creative instincts she has no choice but to follow.⁣

Do you believe that something good can come out of tragedy? Are you a glass half full or a glass half empty person? Miller’s book sounds like an uplifting read that so many people could use right now! Looking forward to this one.
𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸:

Alexis Marshall never meant to cause the accident that left Jon-Jon Robinson paralyzed—but though guilt plagues her, her husband hopes to put the past behind them. After all, he’s in the middle of selling a tech business—and if Alexis admits to texting while driving, the deal could collapse and cost them millions. Meanwhile, Alexis’s life is not as shiny and perfect as it may seem from the outside. She has secrets of her own. As she becomes consumed with thoughts of the young man she hit, can she reconcile her mistake with her husband’s expectations?

Trish Robinson is just trying to hold it together after the accident that left Jon-Jon dependent and depressed. As the bills pile up, Trish and her husband, Dwayne, find themselves at odds. Trish wants to forgive and move on, but Dwayne is filled with rage toward the entitled woman who altered their lives forever. Trish can’t see how anything good can come from so much hate and strife, so she determines to pray until God intervenes. Then one afternoon Marquita Lewis rings their doorbell with a baby in her arms and changes everything.

Vanessa Miller’s latest inspirational novel reminds readers that differences may separate us, but if we cling to each other, God can bring something good out of our very worst moments.

DESCRIPTION
High school junior Gigi Wong strives to be the best: the top student, the perfect friend, and the ideal daughter. But it's tough when there's always someone who is just a little bit better. With college applications looming, she can't help but worry that she won't make the cut. Thankfully, her best friend Kyle never fails to find the right words--and the perfect bowl of ramen--to cheer her up.

After her teacher, Ms. Harris, announces she'll be nominating students for an app writing contest, Gigi is determined to be picked. After all, first prize is an exclusive tech internship, sure to make her application stand out. There's only one problem: she doesn't have a winning program. It isn't until transfer student Etta admits she's struggling to fit in at Superbia that Gigi stumbles on an idea. She'll use her coding skills--and the matchmaking experience she's gotten from weekends with Auntie Rose--to create a friend matching app! Etta will meet new people, and Gigi will guarantee her acceptance into college. It's foolproof.

What Gigi doesn't expect is for her app to go viral around school. Soon, she finds herself at the center of a scandal--and at odds with both Etta and Kyle. Can Gigi fix what went wrong, or will her desire to be perfect cost her the people she cares about most?

Were you (or are you currently) a grunge fan?
My kids always tell me that they’re jealous that I got to grow up when I did. But look at him, he looks pretty grungy. 😏
This book looks like it’s going to be a good one and I can’t wait to revisit younger days reading it.

Synopsis:

Set against a backdrop of Seattle in the early ’90s, Haupt’s second novel is a compelling love story and family drama that addresses the question: Can we alter our dreams and stories from the past to create a better future for our children?

Zane and Skye are two misfit teens drawn together by their love of music and their loneliness. They dream of moving to L.A. together: Zane’s music career following the trajectory of Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder, and Skye drawing Picasso-esque portraits on the Venice Beach boardwalk. When a tragedy violently catapults them from best friends to lovers, their bond is forever strengthened and their relationship destroyed. Ten years later, they must come together as parents, putting aside abandoned dreams and broken promises. The question is: can they face the truth of who they are, and become the parents their daughter needs them to be?

The inspiring true story of one man’s treacherous boyhood journey from a rural village in Ghana to the streets of Barcelona–and the path that led him home.

Ousman Umar is a shaman’s son born in a small village in Ghana. Though his mother died giving birth, he spent a contented childhood working the fields, setting traps in the jungle, and living off the land. Still, as strange and wondrous flying machines crisscrossed the skies overhead, Ousman dreamed of a different life. And so, when he was only twelve years old, he left his village and began what would be a five-year journey to Europe.

Every step of the way, as he traveled across the Sahara desert, through the daunting metropolises of Accra, Tripoli, Benghazi, and Casablanca, and over the Mediterranean Sea aboard a packed migrant dinghy, Ousman was handed off like merchandise by a loose network of smugglers and in the constant, foreboding company of “sinkers”: other migrants who found themselves penniless and alone on their way north, unable to continue onward or return home.

But on a path rife with violence, exploitation, and racism, Ousman also encountered friendship, generosity, and hope. North to Paradise is a visceral true story about the stark realities of life along the most dangerous migrant route across Africa; it is also a portrait of extraordinary resilience in the face of unimaginable challenges, the beauty of kindness in strangers, and the power of giving back.

No matter your religious affiliation, I think most of us are yearning for peace right now. Unclutter Your Soul is a perfect remedy 🤗

Synopsis ⤵️

A unique biblical and practical approach to uncluttering our internal thoughts and feelings.

We all want our lives to change for the better–to become the healthiest versions of ourselves in spirit, soul, and body. Yet we still struggle. Author Trina McNeilly, looking for order in her own life, embarked on an inward journey to the home of her heart and soul to find healing and health from the inside out.

Unclutter Your Soul is for all of us who are cluttered and overwhelmed with loss, fear, chronic stress, unhealthy coping mechanisms, crippling depression, or anxiety. With the Holy Spirit as our guide, Trina says we can learn to

✔️ observe: acknowledge the clutter,
✔️own: make space for a healthy internal environment, and
✔️overcome: take action with tools for living clutter-free from the inside out.

Each chapter in these three sections is written as an essay and concludes with practical and soulful tips as well as prompts to put them into action. With discussion questions and a prayer guide, Unclutter Your Soul is the ultimate resource for finding freedom in our everyday lives by releasing limited mindsets and creating more space for peace and joy.

#QOTD What kind of poetry, if any, do you like to read?

Like most bibliophiles who were once angsty teenagers, or like most readers who once felt love’s cruel sting, I have often solace in poetry. In both reading and writing them. Very few of my own poems made it out of my diary, of course, but during most of middle school and high school days, and even through my first semester in college, I kept a habit of handwriting and memorizing my favorite poems. The poets I loved back then were Christina Rossetti, Emily Brontë, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Charlotte Mew, W.H. Auden, and naturally, the Romantics. And to this day, they remain my favorites. But that doesn’t mean I don’t read anything new!

Currently, for instance, I am indulging in myself with three beautiful poetry collections from @centavepub, each unique but as piercing and heartfelt as the others.

In 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐫, @ari.b.cofer takes us on journey to live life fully, through its highs and lows, while struggling with mental health. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐲 by @cgcpoems is an ode to love, loss, heartbreak, and grief —a path to peace and closure. And @hinnah.xo’s 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐞𝐚: 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 addresses bodily trauma and the process of working through it, highlighting trauma that comes not just from another person, but also from a nation and from within.

Many thanks to @centavepub and @tlcbooktours for my gifted copies! I shall cherish them forever! 📚

Where my YA fans? I have a phenomenal book to recommend: WE WERE KINGS by Court Stevens. It’s a coming of age story with some mystery, and throw in some contentious subject matter. It’s available now to order or grab.

s y n o p s i s:

Twenty years ago, eighteen-year-old Francis Quick was convicted of murdering her best friend, Cora King, and sentenced to death. Now the highly debated Accelerated Death Penalty Act has passed giving Frankie thirty final days to live. Surprising everyone, one of the King family members sets out to challenge the woefully inadequate evidence and potential innocence of Frankie Quick.

The at-first reluctant but soon-fiery Nyla and her unexpected ally—handsome country island boy Sam Stack—bring Frankie’s case to the international stage through her YouTube channel, Death Daze. They step into fame and a hometown battle that someone’s still willing to kill over. But who? The senator? The philanthropist? The pawn shop owner? Nyla’s own mother?

Best advice: Don’t go to family dinner at the Kings’ estate. More people will leave in body bags than on their own two feet. And as for Frankie Quick, she’s a gem . . . even if she’s guilty.

Thanks to @tlcbooktours @entangled_publishing and @mirandaliasson for my gifted copy of The Sweetheart Deal by Miranda Liasson. This is the first in the new Blossom Glen series - a small town romance and the main character is a pastry chef. I am always up for a great foodie romance!⁣
 ⁣
𝘚𝘺𝘯𝘰𝘱𝘴𝘪𝘴: Pastry chef Tessa Montgomery knows what everyone in the teeny town of Blossom Glen says about her. Spinster. Ice Queen. Such a shame. It’s enough to make a woman bake her troubles away, dreaming of Parisian delicacies while she makes bread at her mother’s struggling boulangerie. That is until Tessa’s mortal enemy―deliciously handsome (if arrogant) chef Leo Castorini, who owns the restaurant next door―proposes a business plan…to get married.⁣
 ⁣
Leo knows that the Castorinis and the Montgomerys hate each other, but a marriage might just force these stubborn families to work together and blend their businesses for success. The deal is simple: Tessa and Leo marry, live together for six months, and then go their separate ways. Easy peasy. ⁣
 ⁣
It’s a sweetheart deal where everyone gets what they want―until feelings between the faux newlyweds start seriously complicating the mix. Have they discovered the perfect recipe for success…or is disaster on the way?⁣
 ⁣
💬 I decided this new foodie romance should be paired with some delicious baklava. What is your favorite pastry or dessert?⁣

Good morning my little pudding cups!

💭 Do you have a favorite classic novel?

As a big (big) fan of Wuthering Heights, the premise behind Twilight at Moorington Cross by Abigail Wilson jumped right out at me. While not really similar at all, you know I’m all about ✨vibes✨ and this book definitely screams “creepy gothic romance with some weird shit going down” and I am here for it.

Amelia, a patient at Moorington Cross at the behest of her late husband, suddenly becomes heiress to the estate after a shady death, but first she has to pick between two suitors and marry one of them in order to cash in on that inheritance. The biggest problem? She already had a husband that thought she was nuts and locked her up at Moorington Cross, so what’s to stop one of these men from taking everything away from her again? Oh, and she’s also kind of sort of definitely intrigued by (and very into) the solicitor who drafted the will and is trying to help her pick between the two do-do birds she’s got in front of her. And don’t forget she’s trying to solve a murder at the same time, with the solicitor she’s crushing hard on.

This book is creepy and funny and witty, while still somehow elegant and proper, and it has been an absolute joy navigating this batshit situation with Amelia. I’m only a few chapters from the end and I am chomping at the bit to get back to it but, you know, work and life and adult responsibilities say otherwise which is rude, but here we are. I cannot wait to see how it ends, and I am absolutely delighted this book crossed my path so I could go on this gothic nightmare of an adventure.

Once I’m done you’ll find me pacing the moors at dusk with a shawl around my shoulders praying for my lover to return.

Okay not really, but that’s how this book makes me feel and I think it’d be fun.

Thank you, thank you, to #tlcbooktours and #thomasnelson for giving me a chance to read Twilight at Moorington Cross. It always makes me so happy when new novels cross my radar and this one has been a treat ♥️
